Students must have completed FireEye’s Alerts Analysis course. Students should also have Windows system administration skills including familiarity with the operating system, file system, registry, and use of the CLI.
Students must bring a laptop running Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux and be capable of running virtual machines in our lab environment, with a minimum 8GB RAM. Students must possess administrator rights to the laptop in order to be able to make appropriate settings changes and installations.
The course makes heavy use of our training lab environment. In order to access this lab, a VPN connection will be made by each student. Laptops should have the following software tools installed:
- SSH client
- RDP client
- VNC Client (optional)
We currently support two VPN options in the Lab:
- PPTP, for which a client is installed natively to most operating systems
- OpenVPN, which requires a client software installation on student PCs. FireEye recommends Viscosity, and a 30-day trial can be downloaded from this web site https://www.sparklabs.com/viscosity
